The Slitting Mill trolls

In 1975 a young couple by the names of Barry and Elaine were returning from a Christmas party in Penkridge when they had an experience they would never forget. It was the early hours of the morning. The couple's two children were in the back of the car fast asleep as they drove home to their house in Slitting Mill, Staffordshire. As they approached the junction of Penkridge Bank road and Slitting Mill road, near the locally famous Stone house, their car engine started sputtering and stalled. Barry managed to guide the car to the side of the moonlit road. Barry got out the car to check the engine. Seeing no obvious problem, he returned to the car, intent of walking the remaining half a mile to fetch Elaine's car to pick up her and the children. It was at that moment that Elaine let out a loud scream. What she had seen was something extremely strange and abnormal. Three man-like, hairy little beings ran across the road in front of the car. The couple later described them as 'trolls' – almost like little hairy men wearing nothing at all, with hunchbacks and big, hooked noses. They described the creatures as being around four-feet-tall. They stopped by the edge of the trees. The little things started to come towards the couple and Elaine was absolutely hysterical. Barry later admitted he was close to hysteria himself. The strangest thing about this account (as if seeing four-foot-tall hairy hominids wasn't strange enough) was that as the 'trolls' started towards the couple, this was the last thing they remember. They came around and the creatures were gone and the car engine started as if nothing was wrong. But what had happened? Some have seen this as being proof of some sort of alien abduction activity. But could the couple have simply become unconscious and fainted from the feat and terror of seeing these little creatures? It is certainly possible. Whatever happened that night, when they came to, the horrible little trolls were gone. The couple still state to this day that they will never forget their encounter with the three beings. But what were they? Possible juvenile British Bigfoots? We may never know but this theory is certainly one we must consider. The area where this sighting took place is in the heart of Cannock Chase and we all know by now that this location is a hotbed of British Bigfoot sightings.
